HEALTH & PHYSICAL EDUCATION

The Physical Education Program at Coogee PS is comprehensive, dynamic and diverse.  It provides all students from Pre-primary to Year 6 with the opportunities to develop the skills and confidence to play and enjoy a range of games and sports.

The program includes the development of Fundamental Movement Skills in the early years through to a range of games skills and strategies with the older students.  As well as including a number of the traditional events and sports such as Cross Country, Bell’s King and Queen of the Lighthouse, Faction Carnivals, Swimming Lessons and Swimming Carnival, our students also participate in Interschool Carnivals.

As well as developing skills, the program aims to develop resilience, respect, relationships and responsibility in all children as well as develop their personal and social skills. These are achieved by promoting the enjoyment of physical activity through providing interesting and motivating activities while developing the student's knowledge, skills and behaviours.

Extra-curricular enrichment activities include organised Lunchtime Competitions, Running Club and Sporting Schools funded programs.  Recent highlights include State Championship participants in soccer, Interschool Cross Country Champion School for the past 6 years, Interschool Athletics Carnival Champion School for the past 10 years and Interschool Athletics Team Games Champion for the past 6 years.
