Coogee Primary School is acclaimed as a leading local school in the South Metropolitan Region. This acclaim stems from our targeted improvement initiatives, our place as a hub for the community, our academic results and improvement, our committed teachers, and over 125 years of history and achievement.
Coogee has high expectations for its students and teachers. We aim to have 40% of our students in the top 20% of Australian students. I believe that graduating students should have strong core academic skills, a broad analytical thinking ability and be capable of operating in a rapidly changing world. These characteristics are essential for our students to have choices and opportunities in secondary school and beyond.
At Coogee essential early learning begins through targeted and creative programs in our Early Learning Centres. The core prerequisite literacy and numeracy skills are developed through the use of explicit learning in the Junior Years and supported with balanced and intentional play-based learning. In the Middle and Senior Years, a combination of explicit instruction and student-centred learning is used to encourage creativity, analytical thinking and problem solving. Our Specialist programs, including science, physical education, music and Indonesian, ensure that there are programs to suit all students' interests and abilities.
Our students’ development is enhanced by Coogee’s commitment to a strong social education program that includes fulfilling potential, supporting individual resilience and the development of personal character values. The principles of social justice are at the forefront of our school’s culture and fundamental to “The Coogee Way”. We care for all, and I have a strong commitment to continually develop a culture that responds to the needs of students, staff, parents and carers.
We welcome you to Coogee Primary School - a historic Western Australian Public School of which we are very proud.
